How much does a website and online store cost in Hong Kong? (2026)
There is no single price, a simple site and a full online store can differ by five to ten times. What you pay depends on scope, not on which vendor you pick. Here is what actually drives the cost, and how to budget with confidence.
What you are actually paying for
A website quote usually bundles five things: design (how it looks and feels to use), build (the actual code and setup), content (words and images), integrations (payments, shipping, email, analytics), and, if you sell physical goods, production. When two quotes look far apart, it is almost always because they include different amounts of these.
Before comparing prices, ask each vendor exactly what is included. A cheaper number that excludes content and integrations is not actually cheaper.
The four common tiers
Landing page, a single page for one campaign, product or launch. The smallest, fastest option.
Brochure site, a handful of pages (home, about, services, contact) to establish a credible presence.
Online store, products, cart, payment and shipping. This is where cost typically jumps, because there is real commerce logic to build and test.
Custom platform, bookings, member accounts, dashboards, AI tools. Priced by feature, and the largest of the four.
What pushes the price up or down
Up: custom design instead of a template, more pages or products, complex payment/shipping/inventory rules, multiple languages, and third-party integrations.
Down: supplying your own copy and photos, starting from a proven template, and launching a focused first version rather than everything at once.
One-off versus ongoing costs
The build is a one-off. After launch you also carry a domain (yearly), hosting (monthly or yearly), and maintenance for updates and security. A store adds payment-gateway transaction fees on each sale. Budget for both the build and the running costs.
How to get an accurate number
The honest answer is a scoped quote. Write down what you sell, roughly how many products, what must integrate (payments, courier, POS), your languages, and your timeline. A good studio quotes against that, clearly, before any work begins.
That is how we work at Build For Dream: one team scopes the software and, if needed, the physical production, then gives one honest price. Tell us what you have in mind and we will come back within a business day.
Common questions
Is a template cheaper than a custom site?
Usually cheaper upfront. But if you outgrow it or need custom features bolted on later, it can cost more overall. For a simple presence a template is fine; for a distinctive brand or a store you will build on, custom often pays back.
Do I need a developer, or a platform like Shopify?
For a standard store, a hosted platform is fast and reliable. For custom flows, bookings, memberships, AI, unusual products, you need development. Many projects sensibly mix both.
How long does it take to build?
A landing page can take days; a brochure site a couple of weeks; a full store four to eight weeks depending on products and integrations; custom platforms longer. In practice, having your content ready is usually the real bottleneck.
What are the ongoing costs after launch?
Domain (yearly), hosting (monthly or yearly), and maintenance for updates and security. A store also has payment-gateway transaction fees. Set aside a small monthly amount so the site stays current and secure.
